The one about the coachee who refused to be coached.
Suzie tried very hard to coach me.
She responded to my needs with excellent determination, a thorough understanding and expertise in career coaching, and very insightful and accurate tools for testing motivations, values and underlying dark sides.
Neither Suzie nor the tools were at fault. I just wouldn’t let her do her job. I responded with a great amount of resistance (It’s worth knowing I rang Suzie, she did not ring me for coaching), and I thoroughly refused to be coached in the accepted norm.
In fact – I was so insistent that it wouldn’t work that I wrote a deeply emotional email that this logical approach was just not going to get to the place I needed it to.
THEN the magic. Suzie responded with empathy and a kindness I was desperate for. What I thought was a need for a career coach was really a need for someone to get into my life and map it out for me.
Suzie did so. With a fantastic understanding of the corporate scape but backed with a spiritual and universal connection that was exactly what I needed to help me get out of the weeds.
I am still not sure exactly how she did it, but somehow I have come out the other end transformed, with a clarity I have not managed to find in years.
In my last meeting with Suzie, I said “I feel the clarity over my dreams that I had when I was 20” (or something like that) And I meant it.
I have a real understanding of my identity, drivers and values and I know how these are connected to my energy and the universe. I am so grateful for the time we have had together and will continue to share as I embark on my future with new energy.
I absolutely recommend Suzie and her strategy – especially when the norm is simply not the way things work for you!
